Paint Stamp Peacock Kid Art Activity
This fun project started out as a simple paint stamping one using cut up pieces of a cardboard box, dipping the edge of them in paint and having a play with the different patterns and textures that could be made.
The rascals practiced stamping using the edge of the cardboard, then using the edge to spread and smooth the paint out; making pretty patterns and designs on different colored paper.
They held the stamp down on the paper and turned it which made really neat fan and circle type patterns. All great ways to get some decent fine motor skills practice in with the hands and arms.
We noticed that the cardboard contained a really neat texture and pattern between the two layers. And when used to stamp paint it created a pretty textures line patterns on the paper; which led us to come up with our next idea. Peacock tails.
Stamping the edge of the card in a fan or rainbow like shape, with different colors created an amazing peacock tail picture; the texture almost appearing feather like.
After making our fan like tail, we cut out a peacock shape body from card (get the template here), added some googly eyes and beak shape. Check out our video below.
